The Night Before the Holiday: YuanChang Engineers on a Customer's Production Floor
30 September - the lights were still on in the customer's new workshop.
On a green epoxy floor, a row of stainless steel vacuum fillers stands in alignment, yellow safety lane markings running between the machines. Figures in white hygiene clothing move from one station to the next - hoppers, control cabinets, conveying lines, filling stations - checking machine by machine, item by item. It is the last evening before China's National Day holiday, and Yuanchang's installation and commissioning team has not gone home.
From Delivery to a Line That Runs, There Is Still a Long Way to Go
Equipment delivery never means "the job ends when the goods arrive". Once a vacuum filling machine enters the workshop, it still has to be positioned and levelled, wired and its safety circuits verified, run empty as a single machine, then calibrated for filling parameters against the customer's own recipe, and finally tested in line with the upstream and downstream processes - loading, conveying and clipping. If any single link is not aligned, the line will not start.
This time, to meet the customer's production start date, the team scheduled its work right through to the final evening before the holiday. The site lead put it plainly: "The customer is waiting to start production. Our job is to get the machines running stably and producing."
What a Holiday Means: Getting the Job Done
The National Day holiday is a time for family reunions - and, for food processors, the window to prepare production ahead of the year-end consumption season. With the customer's start-up date set around the holiday, the schedule for installation and commissioning was tight from the beginning. The team chose to stay and finish the work.
There were no banners and no ceremonies on the workshop floor - only rows of commissioned machines, parameters ticking over on the screens, and faces still focused late into the night.
